The taste you remember.
The name behind it.
The heart of Istria, among the hills of Kanfanar, was the birthplace of an idea that would shape generations. Klara Marić is not just a brand. It is a reflection of family dedication, enjoying simple things and having a passion for perfect pasta. We live that story every day — and share it with you, plate after plate.

About us
Klara Marić is a Croatian brand that produces traditional homemade Istrian pasta, based in Kanfanar, Istria. Ours is a family business that involves every member of the Marić family. The brand is proudly named after our Klara. As great fans of good cuisine and tradition, we noticed that our domestic market lacks pasta produced in a traditional way that requires a lot of love and manual labour when making the dough. Therefore, wishing for as many people to try homemade pasta produced in a traditional and authentic way, we decided to launch our production. We are the first manufacturers in Croatia to have introduced a special way of pasta production. Our wide range of products is of exceptional quality and unique traditional value.
How it all began back in 1987
When we decided to start producing pasta, there was no traditional Istrian pasta on the market, nor was there any offer of higher quality pasta. As foodies with a great respect of tradition, we were inspired to take that road, with traditional Istrian pasta as our guiding spirit! We established the ‘Klara M’ family pasta production business and set off on the adventure of a lifetime. In an era without the internet, we sat in the car and headed to Italy in search of machinery. We started with a small production of 250 kg of pasta per day in our family house!

Istrian tagliatelle – homemade feel, patented precision
Until 1990, we did everything by hand. When we acquired our first machine, Drago adapted it so that we could produce tagliatelle folded on matasse – exactly the way it used to be made by hand. Our invention enabled a unique combination of quality and handmade look, which still differentiates our products from others.
From Kanfanar to America
The quality of our pasta was quickly recognized beyond Croatia. Today, we export our products throughout Europe, even to America – where Klara Marić pasta can be found on store shelves and restaurant plates.
Growth and rebranding
Over the years, our identity has kept evolving. The name changed from Klara to Klara M, and today we proudly bear the full name: Klara Marić Pasta. Klara is our heart, our inspiration and a symbol of homemade, heart-warming and authentic production.
New plant, larger capacities
After fifteen years, we moved production to a new hall. It is where the new era began - machine large-scale production of tagliatelle on 'matasse', without losing soul and quality. The new equipment enabled the growth of the team, modernization and a larger offer.
Frozen pasta
Our frozen pasta is high in energy value. It undergoes super quick freezing. In other words, the time period from mixing the ingredients to deep freezing is extremely short. This maximizes the high characteristics of the ingredients we use.

Fužijada fest
Fuži – the symbol of Istria's gastronomy
Fuži have become a recognizable brand and the main symbol of Kanfanar. Thanks to Klara Marić, they have become renowned outside of Istria. Wishing to cherish traditional Istrian products, in collaboration with the municipality of Kanfanar, we decided to organize what has become a traditional and special event. Fužijada is a gastronomic event where we present dishes with fuži, old and traditional recipes. The visitors can taste various types of dishes and learn how the most famous Istrian pasta is made and prepared.

We care about sustainability
From the very beginning, we have shown our commitment to the environment. We use sustainable packaging, choose organic ingredients, and our production processes are designed with care of nature and future generations.
Dear all,
For as long as I can remember, I have loved pasta. As a child, I watched my grandmother and mother knead dough on long winter evenings. Our house was filled with warmth, the smell of flour, and laughter. I loved wearing an apron, taking a piece of dough, and trying to make shapes as similar to my grandmother's as possible. That's when I learned that food is not just a necessity — it is love, connection, and tradition.
Although I had a little career detour, fate brought me back to this profession. My husband Drago, a chef and lover of fine food, launched the business in 1987 and we embarked on this journey together. We had a simple dream — that as many people may experience the magic of homemade pasta, made with love.
We grew up in Kanfanar, a town in the heart of Istria, with a rich tradition and strong family ties. We still work here, together with our sons, who contribute to brand development in their own unique way. We started with a small machine and great will. In 2003, we built a modern production hall and launched serious production. We roll our pasta — just like our grandmothers and mothers did. Although it is the most demanding method, it puts the most soul into each product. Today, Tjestenina Klara Marić is present throughout Croatia and globally, even in Italy — the cradle of pasta. Yet, our greatest pride is the awareness that we have passed on the love of tradition and food to new generations.
